You’ll climb El Torreón the highest peak in the park, traverse remote ridges, and finish with the sharp twin summits above El Gastor. Every day is a highlight.

Accommodation
You’ll stay in comfortable guesthouses in the charming village of Algodonales. We’ve selected local accommodations that combine authenticity with comfort—private en-suite rooms, mountain views, and warm Andalusian hospitality.
Daily Routine
Each day begins with breakfast at a local café in Algodonales. You’ll then transfer to the trailhead for your day’s summit challenge. Hikes typically return to Algodonales by around 6:00 PM, with plenty of time to relax, shower, and head out for dinner.
Meals
Breakfast is provided daily. Lunches are typically picnics enjoyed mid-hike—either at scenic viewpoints or after the descent. Evenings are free for you to explore the vibrant culinary scene in town, or simply unwind with tapas and wine.
Difficulty & Terrain
This tour is designed for experienced hikers with good fitness levels. Expect steep ascents, rugged trails, loose rock, and some off-path navigation. Daily distances range from 7.5 to 15 km, with elevation gains up to 950 m. Trekking poles are recommended, and a spirit for adventure is a must.
What to Bring
For your comfort and safety, we recommend bringing sturdy hiking shoes, a small backpack (20–30 L), at least 2 litres of water, good sun protection (hat, sunscreen, sunglasses), a light jacket or extra layer for cooler moments, and any snacks you enjoy during the hike.
Best Time to Visit
We run this high-intensity hiking week from October through May, avoiding the intense summer heat. Conditions are ideal in spring and autumn when temperatures are mild and visibility is crystal clear.

Day 1: Arrival in Algodonales
Welcome to Algodonales, your base for a week of rugged adventure in the Sierra de Grazalema. Settle into your guesthouse and explore the charming village before meeting your guide for a welcome briefing. Prepare for a week of peaks, ridges, and spectacular views.
Overnight in Algodonales.
Day 2: El Torreón – Highest Peak in the Park | 7.5km
We kick off the week with a climb to the summit of El Torreón (1654 m), the highest peak in the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park. The trail ascends through pine forest before opening onto a rocky ridge with panoramic views across the region. A challenging but rewarding start.
Walking distance: 7.5km | 4.5–5 hours | ↑750m ↓750m
Picnic lunch. Return to Algodonales for the night.
Day 3: Simancón & El Reloj Double Summit | 13.5km
Today’s demanding hike takes us over two iconic limestone peaks: Simancón (1569 m) and El Reloj (1535 m). The route features rocky paths, open ridges, and off-trail sections — ideal for seasoned hikers seeking a real alpine feel. Expect breathtaking views and wild terrain.
Walking distance: 13.5km | 6–7 hours | ↑950m ↓950m
Picnic lunch. Return to Algodonales for the night.
Day 4: Rest Day – Optional Walks or Cultural Visits
Take a well-deserved rest day after two challenging summit hikes. Explore the nearby towns of Ronda or Setenil de las Bodegas, or visit the Roman ruins at Acinipo. If you prefer to stay active, a short scenic walk can be arranged near Algodonales or along the Via Verde.
Optional activity day. Lunch out. Return to Algodonales for the night.
Day 5: Pico Ventana – Remote Mountain Wilderness | 12km
We venture into the remote Sierra Juan Diego for a challenging ascent of Pico Ventana (1298 m). The trail passes through rugged, little-visited terrain with occasional loose rock and wide-open views. A wild and scenic adventure in one of the park’s quietest corners.
Walking distance: 12km | 6–7 hours | ↑850m ↓850m
Picnic lunch. Return to Algodonales for the night.
Day 6: Sierra de Líjar Ridge Traverse | 15km
Today we traverse the high ridgeline of Sierra de Líjar above Algodonales. The trail offers steep climbs, uneven paths, and soaring views over Cádiz province. A local favorite and great training ground for mountain footwork.
Walking distance: 15km | 5.5–6.5 hours | ↑850m ↓850m
Lunch in Algodonales or picnic at the paragliding viewpoint. Overnight in Algodonales.
Day 7: Twin Peaks of El Gastor – El Tajo & Las Grajas | 10km
The week ends with a bang: a steep and scenic loop that climbs both El Tajo and Las Grajas above the village of El Gastor. Enjoy incredible views of the Zahara-El Gastor reservoir and the surrounding mountains. A challenging but satisfying final hike.
Walking distance: 10km | 5.5–6 hours | ↑700m ↓700m
Picnic lunch. Return to Algodonales for the night.
Day 8: Departure
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast in Algodonales before saying farewell to the Sierra de Grazalema. Whether you’re heading home or continuing your travels, you’ll leave with powerful memories of peaks conquered and ridges traversed.
