Preparation
A comprehensive and reputable travel insurance policy is essential to your enjoyment and peace of mind while on an active holiday. When travelling with us, all group members must have valid travel insurance, which includes cover for all activities on your trip. For complete peace of mind, we recommend Global Rescue (https://globalrescue.com). Of course, you are not obliged to use any of our partners and can opt for your own insurance provider – just check if they provide adequate coverage for the activities included in your trip.
For hiking in the Sierra de Grazalema, it’s important to dress appropriately for both the terrain and the variable weather conditions. Here’s what we recommend:
- Footwear: Sturdy, well-fitting hiking boots with good grip are essential for the rocky terrain. Avoid sandals or casual shoes.
- Clothing: Wear moisture-wicking layers that you can adjust as temperatures change throughout the day. A lightweight, breathable shirt and hiking trousers or shorts are ideal.
- Outerwear: Bring a waterproof jacket or windbreaker, as weather in the mountains can be unpredictable.
- Accessories: A wide-brimmed hat or cap, sunglasses, and sunscreen are crucial for sun protection. Gloves and a warm hat may be useful during cooler months.
- Socks: Comfortable, moisture-wicking hiking socks are a must to prevent blisters.
Dressing in layers allows you to adapt to temperatures ranging from 10°C to 35°C, ensuring you stay comfortable and safe throughout your hike. If you’d like more details or have specific concerns, feel free to ask!

Weather
We prioritize your safety and enjoyment, so we only go hiking if the weather is fair. While the weather in the Sierra de Grazalema is generally stable and pleasant—one of the reasons southern Spain is such a popular hiking destination—it can still be unpredictable at times.
If conditions are unsafe or make hiking unenjoyable, we may adjust the itinerary or delay the start of the walk. That said, some light rain or wind is part of the adventure, so we recommend bringing a waterproof jacket and being prepared for changing conditions.
Rest assured, our experienced guides will always make decisions with your safety and comfort in mind!
